One of my favorite childhood places! 35 cents on Saturday
afternoon got us a double or triple feature and my parents a few hours of
peace, likely. My oldest daughter's first movie was there...The Muppet Movie. -

Largest crowd
I was a usher '61 - '63. I think the largest crowds ever was
for the movie Gypsy with Natalie Wood. Sold out twice the same night and still
turned people away. Recall people even standing in the wall aisles. I
forget what the admission price was but with that and concession receipts I
twice had a walking police escort to the bank night deposit one block away. -

A Grocery Bag Full Of Popcorn
A long time ago... my Grandma would take all of her grandkids there on Wednesday’s with a large paper grocery bag full of popcorn. Admission was a Pepsi bottle cap for each. It was so damn noisy, you couldn’t hear a word of the movie. - Kathy N

So many memories ...
So many memories. Every Saturday my dad took neighbor kids and me to the Washington for cartoons. Now that I’m old, I totally get why he took us even though money was tight. Parental privacy. But not just cartoons but Buck Rogers and Gene Autry and Hopalong Cassidy And many more. The concession was a paradise of candy we didn’t get at home. Ju-Ju Bees and Sugar Daddy and the plckles. Balcony was great. Boys would spit on girls below to get attention. It was a grand place and loved by many of us. - Shirley B

The Wolfman ... Live!
I remember about the early 50s, around Halloween they featured the Wolf man movie late. About half way thru the movie, a person came screeching down the aisle dressed like the wolfman. Wow, you really clung on your boyfriend. It was fun. - LouAnn G

Apartments
My grandmother lived in the apartments right next to it. The lady that made the popcorn (Norma?) lived next to her & she used to let me go down behind the theatre in a basement & help her make it.🤗 There was about 6 apartments up there. They were beautiful. - Kathy Wittmer
